Wigan pier in pouring rain!!
Grey and chilly, moored up in Wigan for a soup lunch - we were perished!!
The locks on this stretch are wide, deep and with wide heavy gates! I only just managed to work out the varied locks and mechanisms - no 2 were the same!!
We passed Wigan pier - now cluttered with modern development, which didn't appear to be in use!!
Paired up with another boat to share the last 3 locks of the day - down to Crooke, where we moored up outside Crooke Hall Inn and our supper for tonight!!
We were slightly distracted during the day as we tracked Stuart's progress in the London marathon - where he achieved a fantastic time of 3:28:05. He certainly did better than his football team today!!
