Daffodils to dandelions!!
Mostly a day of beautiful sunshine, and amazing countryside! Progress was slow - mainly due to the number of moored boats (it's etiquette to pass on tick over). We've also noticed far fewer traditional narrow boats - replaced with wide beam, and smaller fibreglass cruisers! Rog is not keen on either!!
We have not been impressed with the number of facilities on this stretch of canal - so were relieved to fill up with water this morning, knowing we can safely enjoy a hot shower at the end of the day.
As well as a large number of derelict buildings, we also noticed many market gardens, small businesses - the soil looks amazing here! The wooded areas near the canal were carpeted with bluebells and we passed lots of mallards and their broods - how would you fancy looking after 9 little ones?
I was kept particularly busy today, enjoying the 'power' of operating several electric swing bridges!
So today we cruised into Lancashire - and another day closer to our 'trip to Liverpool'
