April 19th New Mills to Marple



Cold breeze but bright this morning as R and I went our separate ways!!

Rog drove to Heritage marina - where we'll be mooring on our return. He then hiked along the towpath to Kidsgrove, catching the first of 2 trains back to New Mills via Stockport. 

I sampled the delights of New Mills town - which is poor anyway, but today was Wednesday closing ..... !!

After lunch and we finally set off from the marina we were marooned in because of the water restrictions since last May.

Blustery but sunny cruise down to Marple to get in pole position for the 8.30 lock opening. The wind did make maneuvering difficult and the 3 swing bridges were a bit of a challenge. The 16 locks are currently only open 3 mornings a week due to water restrictions.
